Since the end of the World War II, the Japanese economy and society have experienced postwar reconstruction, high-speed growth, environmental deterioration, and economic collapse. Japan, although materially abundant, has not recovered its spiritual wealth and has been troubled by environmental problems. We are comprehensively surveying and reconsidering the development of river basin cities against the background of the trajectory following by one westernized country of Asia.

Our country accomplished economic growth. However, the disaster prevention, the bonds of community, the natural environment, landscape of history and culture, and Sustainable in local society were lost. Do not copy the technique of another region for the regional planning. It is necessary that oneself thinks out the solution by learning to the success and the failure of another region. Our laboratory researches the landscape design, alternative tourism, and the city planning for the simultaneous solution in the good balance of peacetime daily life and emergency water problem .

Statistical science is applied not only to environmental science, but in many other fields such as medicine, engineering, sociology and so on. So, even statistical science includes a variety of sub-fields. I am a specialist in two of these: medical statistics and environmental statistics.
In the medical statistics field, we study the design of trials for oncology clinical trials, statistically diagnose clinical laboratory trial values, and develop statistical methods which isolate responders to medical treatment. We are also responsible for statistical analysis of a number of clinical trial groups which perform joint trials by a number of facilities.
In the field of environmental statistics, we develop statistical learning (for example, ensemble learning, Bayes multiple classification analysis), and research its application to questionnaire surveys and to spatial immunological data.
